Mission

Our mission is to discover practical, evidence-based solutions to food safety issues within Arkansas and beyond through research, innovation and collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Goals

The following goals have been adopted to fulfill the mission of the CFS:

Goal 1

Develop technologies and methodologies for the rapid detection and identification of food-borne pathogens, toxins, and chemicals that impact food safety and quality.

Goal 2

Determine the most effective intervention points (HACCP) and technologies to control hazards in the food chain from production to consumer. 

Goal 3

Assist food processors with developing and optimizing technologies to reduce contamination of foodborne pathogens using pre- and post-harvest strategies.
